Motivation to combine the medical tasks

ImageCLEF has include medical tasks every year since 2004. In 2018 all but one task were medical but little interaction happened between the medical tasks. For this reason we wanted to focus each of the medical tasks to one specific problem but combine them as a single task with several subtasks. Our hopes are that this informs research groups also on the other tasks and possible researchers will participate in more than one of the talks.

The following three tasks are proposed in 2019:

• a visual question answering task (VQA);
• a caption analysis task;
• a tuberculosis task.
